Dear Neighbors, Food--Fun--Free 618 Van Patten #1 (3 blocks
south of Bullock's Grocery) Sophia & Nicholas Peron I guess it's been awhile...
I don't know why the time lapses to find I'm right back where I started... No where. This page, for example, is an example of my neglect. It has been at least two years or so since I maintained it. No new comments. Period. Yet it continues to be among the top 15 on my website. Well, today I took down some of my old inane comments, political endorsements, etc. I'm not sure what made anyone more worthy to boost their position of power, prominence and preference on this page. It's supposed to be an open forum, a place for debate, a place to cuss out the editor for being lame, whatever, just please comment using your e-mail and send to the address listed in the black box above. Please title your letter RE: COMMENT and if you're not a spammer I will return the favor and post your comment here on this page, as long as the comment meets the requirements (you guessed it!) in the black box above.
Thanks,
Wild Bill Johnson OX (pronounced "big ox")
AG GONZALES BITES THE BULLET:
The saga over the resignation of U.S. Attorney Alberto Gonzales seems best summed up in the prophetic song "For The Turnstiles" that Neil Young wrote 33 years ago:
"All the Bush-League* batters are left to die on the diamond. In the stands the home crowd scatters for the turnstiles..."
* In the published song, the letters B & L are lower case.
WILD BILL'S MANIFESTO
-
1) political reforms that
deter and eliminate our culture of corruption that festers throughout the
political and business realms of our country; 3) a detainee policy for suspected terrorists that does NOT violate the U.S. Constitution; 4) the repeal of the unconstitutional provisions of the Patriot Act and other incompetent acts of the president and congress; 5) affordable gas prices, education, housing and prescription drugs; 6) universal and valid health care for all Americans, not just Congress and the elite; and last, but not least 7) energy independence. And We, the people, must continue our vigilance by participating in our government and thus not allow lobbyists and special interest groups to seize it all... - Editor, DJ Online, 11/11/06
T HANK you for this fabulous Manifesto... It is beautifully written - and in my opinion, should be sent to the White House, the Democratic Party, and every other major newspaper in this country. Excellent.Julie Alday Monroe, Georgia 11/11/06
I agree with all except I think the Impeachment process will only interfere with accomplishing all ofthe other goals. Just like the Iraq war is interfering with the war on terrorism. I hope the Democrats are bigger and better men and women than the Republicans were and care first and foremost about the welfare of our nation and its people. Revenge might be sweet, but there is too much to do now to indulge ourselves in that sort of luxury. Betty Palmer 11/11/06 I mpeach Them. Fantastic... I heard on Air America a bill in congress that will start the investigation soon. Write your congress representative to pass the bill and we can start the investigations and the money trail of all that they have stolen as well.
Eric Sofield I said more than three years ago that the voters must hold Congress accountable if they refuse to do their job dealing with the president's illegal war in Iraq. It is unlawful because the reasons for it were groundless and false. And we are still there three and a half years later as an occupation force and for what reason? To promote their Civil War? What freedom is there in that? Blood and death, more killing and more families suffering. And the Grand Ol' Party - The Republicans - say they're all about family values, as long as they can kill us in their bloody, stupid wars. Let's hold our Congressmen - senators and representatives alike - accountable and boot their asses off the hill on election day, November 2006! And urge the new Democratic majority to start the Bush impeachment process! Vote early and let these creeps know we aren't going to take it anymore! - Editor, DJ Online
It's simple and maddening at the same time!!! Corporate owned media, corporations are allowed to own multiple stations in many markets, monopolizing on and controlling what we hear. This is why so many small stations were bought up or went dark around the latter part of the nineties and now are dark or play right wing talk radio ... and I can't get a job in radio, 'cause I rock, and even when I did a Southern Gospel program, I programmed it like a 60's free form rock program ... Ha! ha! I never could work on a "christian" station for this reason .... especially when playing southern gospel in the morning and then turning around and having a "metal" show at night... happy listening!!! - W.B.
Name: Dick (Great Auk) Short CommentThere's no doubt that these underhanded environmentalists will try any dirty trick in their little green books to get what they want and it's about time someone told them that enough is enough, no more refuges from private property and absolutely no wildlands at all!
Name: Warren Busha CommentVery good online edition to your Newspaper... Bill, too bad I can't get the printed edition, huh? Warren WARRB_IN@yahoo.com I need the truth or accept the consequences.
Name: Carla CommentAs a new resident to NM, I must take issue with your overzealous law enforcement personnel. Pulling someone over 1 block from their home strictly for the purpose of harassing them for not having a seatbelt on, only because they have out-of-state plates, is totally uncalled for. It's no wonder NM stays poor; you drive everyone out with your harassment. Leave the tourists alone! They bring income to this otherwise barren land. You have lots to offer, but don't know how to treat tourists and newcomers. WAKE UP!
Name: Dick (Great Auk) Short CommentLet's introduce the wolf into some of our major cities, especially wherever an environmental group has its HQ, and the best place to introduce them is Hollywood where a lot of these ignorant celebrities live who are always donating money or doing public interest spot for the environmentalists. I wonder how they would react to a pack of wolves running down Hollywood and Vine or invading some celeb's back yard and scarfing up fido.
Name: linda CommentThis is a response to Carla, Last time I knew every state has the law of seatbelts.....I wouldn't call someone paying attention to your safety "over zealous"!! A law is a law no matter how far you are from home....I would love to be in T or C right now. bueatiful and great place. It's like the old saying goes "Love it or leave it!!! Oops, being a little bold again........
Name: Treena Allen-Saavedra CommentNo, you did not get the last word, it is just not worth my time to beat a dead horse!!
Name: Barbara CommentThe story about the woman who was hit by a Police Baton at an Anti War demo needs to realize she was at the wrong place at the wrong time and should not have even went if she didn't want trouble. That's all I hear about those Anti War demonstrations. The Police are doing their job trying to get control over some out of control "fanatics." If you are at a social gathering where there is drug use, even though you are not involved in doing them in any way, you're there, you're going to go down with all of them! Do these Anti War Demonstrators really think they are/were going to change the mind of the President by protesting???
Name: JOHN ATKINSON CommentTHANK YOU FOR YOUR EDITORIAL IN THE DESERT JOURNAL. I BELIEVE THAT IF %75 OF THE PEOPLE VOTE, THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WILL DISAPPEAR FROM THE FACE OF THE EARTH. DON'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THE NEGATIVE GARBAGE ON TELEVISION. IT IS DESIGNED TO DISCOURAGE PEOPLE FROM VOTING. GET OUT AND VOTE TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE GEORGE BUSH HAS DONE TO THE WORLD. JOHN ATKINSON
Name: JOHN ATKINSON CommentGEORGE BUSH LIED, JUST READ HIS LIPS. BUSH LIED TO THE FRENCH, THE GERMANS THE RUSSIANS AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ABOUT WHY HE INVADED IRAQ. THE WHITE HOUSE SPOKES MAN JUST RESIGNED. HE WAS AFRAID THE REPORTERS WOULD ASK HIM ABOUT THE LIES HE TOLD FOR GEORGE BUSH IN THE PAST. IF YOU ARE AFRAID GEORGE BUSH WILL LIE IN THE FUTURE. JUST TAKE HIS FATHERS FAMOUS ADVICE, READ HIS LIPS. IF GEORGE BUSH'S LIPS MOVED WHEN HE TALKED, THEN HE LIED. Name: Jon CommentWe all know George Bush lied about the reasons to go to war in Iraq. But a majority of people believe everything that the commander and thief tells them. Most small towns in America are ran by the churches and freedom of thought is an after thought. So sad to see so many people lose their lives in an unjust war for profit. The oil barons are getting richer at the expense of us motorists. $2.75 for gas? Guess Cheney is sure getting rich! Name: Jon CommentBeware of Lake County, Oregon. It is a religious theocracy. If you wear long hair and do not go to church you might as well not apply for a job. Beware if you are a minority like me. I am part Native American. Lakeview is a dying community. The cowboy industry has a strangle hold on the economy and if your not for god and guns you are considered an outcast. I moved here because I am an isolationist. I cannot stand big cities either because of crime, pollution and overcrowding. I guess I have to move to Montana in the middle of nowhere to get my peace and quiet. Remember, Bu$h lied, thousands died. Jon Thunderbird. Lakeview, Oregon. Name: ralph a. kern CommentSir: when Kerry and Edwards were running for presidential office Edwards stated that they were in favor of NAFTA as we were one America here. if all of NAFTA goes through congress, all national borders, including reservation borders will be eliminated making this one country from Alaska to the tip of South America. Is this what you want/ Thanks and God bless... sergeantkern@yahoo.co.uk
Name: Leo Dailey CommentI think the war against Iraq sucks and that Bush and his warriors should go there in their newly found democracy! Name: Piranhasaurus CommentWell, I'm a big fish and I'm going to eat the little fish, and when I can, I'm also going to eat the bigger fish. If the President, Congress and the Judiciary think and act above the law, then let's just go all-out anarchy and let Darwinian fittest-of-survivor laws take the place of our great Constitution! Better yet, just throw me in with the gold fish, I'm HUNGRY!!! Name: Warren CommentWell, I'd have to agree with you Bill, also you have to pressure the "corrupt" self-serving congress and senate, who do not have our interests at heart, I can think of only a few who do, like Russ Finegold, D-WI....also you might want to check out a website I found call www.hugequestions.com ... then convince the majority of Americans ... Keep up the good work! Bill Name: Sherrill Smith CommentBush is the most corrupt, the most dishonest and purely ignorant man who ever fixed an election. He is NOT "our" president - he works for the giant corporations who his father and grand-father put into the real power in the USA. No one should be dying in Iraq (Americans OR Iraqi citizens) so the Bush Gang can get richer. The USA is NOT a democracy in 2006. We, the people, have let a maniac rob what was left of our civil liberties and our human rights. I am ashamed of the US and our politicians and our citizenry, who stand by idly while the country goes to hell in so many ways.
Name: Ralph Kern CommentSir: 1. the Clinton administration set up the 9-11 attack so it would look like bush did it. 2. in this area there is some sneaky cameramen who got into a satanic program in Calif. that was attended by Clinton and many other high level politicians who recorded it to expose them but were stopped by threats. 3. bush may not be an angel, but he is the lesser of many evils. God watch...
Name: Just an average Joe CommentI have a brother-in-law preparing to return from Iraq after nearly a year in command of a U.S. Army company there. He consistently tells me that everything he sees on the mainstream media about the war in Iraq is slanted negatively. He says that the vast majority or Iraqi people are pleased to have had the Americans help them establish a new government. He has worked hand in hand with them and says they are just like his dad, his brother or me... they are good, honest people who want only to have a good job, work hard, and provide for their family's well-being in a safe and secure nation. They are just regular folks who were run rough shod over by a dictator and needed a helping hand throwing him out. He says there have been incredible success there that he sees everyday, but that he never sees it in the media... just talk about it all being a big mistake. He is disappointed in the media and disappointed in the American people for letting the media get away with it. I'm sick and tired of everybody jumping on Bush about this war. Yes, feel free to jump on him about any other crap you want, but not this... the info he got about MWD was flawed. So F***ing what? It's what he had and based on it he made the right decision. I am also sick and tired of all the freaking Democrats having a complete amnesia attack about all the crap Clinton screwed up. Want to talk about immoral... be careful about opening that can of worms with Bush if you're not willing to open the same one with Clinton. Bottom line, he's an immoral bastard too. BUT GUESS WHAT... he did some good stuff too. And that's the way it is if any of you crybabies ain't figured it out yet... every President screws stuff up and gets his hands dirty in stuff he shouldn't, but they all do good stuff, too. You have to take the good with the bad... I took it while Clinton was in office and now you can take while Bush is in office. And I'll take it again when whatever Democrat gets elected in '08.
Name: Buddy the Dog CommentMr Johnson, I didn't realize you were such a Denny Hestert fan. However, I cannot see what promoting the Speak of the House to president would gain other than putting Tom Delay closer to being in charge of the country. No, the only way to bring about the changes you want would be to send money to your like-minded supporters in Iran and hope that all copies of the Constitution burn under the mushroom cloud. In addition, you'll need to outlaw elections, since the guy you want impeached received more votes than any other president in history. Your best bet would be to gather all the unemployed in the nation and put them to work gathering petition signatures for your Hestert-for-President drive. OOps! That's right. There aren't any unemployed people left (again, thanks to this eeevil president)... You'll need to do it yourself. Name: Nobody for President Campaign CommentI support Nobody for President, I have no heroes in politics, they're all bed sores. The point, I think, is that the GOP put Clinton through the impeachment process, so why not their own??? Anyone for cleaning house? If not, this is truly a culture of corruption. And I heard Bush attack his critics - I still say he's a big, fat liar... Name: Influence CommentWith all of the influence peddling around Washington DC these days, we have the Iraq War, a windfall budget deficit, and a lot of stupid people running around the country calling themselves patriotic Americans. When are these nationalists (read Nazis) going to fess up? Let them send their own sons and daughters to their cute little battle in Iraq. Then when they return in body bags or without limb(s), mourners can claim a gold star. How about a feather in your cap, Macaroni? Name: North Pole Messenger CommentHELP!!! I'm melting...
Name: Justice CommentSince the National Bar Association, NAACP, Afro-American Defense Fund, Natl. Hispanic Caucus and numerous other civil rights organizations recommend AGAINST Bush's nomination of Appellate Judge Sam Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court, then I suppose that the U.S. Senate's confirmation of Alito is a show AGAINST our civil rights. Their support of this pro-corporation, pro-government, pro-corruption, anti-individualistic and anti-individual rights judge is a flagrant violation of our common sense. These people are obviously elitists who not only protect their own, but they also break our backs - our foundation for freedom - at our expense. Name: Carbon Dioxide CommentNow that China has joined industrialists in their attempt to dominate world resources, we can expect more carbon dioxide emissions to pollute our atmosphere. Meanwhile, we also can expect industrial pseudo-scientists to make claims that their petrol-pollutants do NOT constitute the majority of green house gasses that are contributing to global warming. I say lets put all of these liars on a little iceberg in the Arctic Ocean and see just how many of them can swim to shore.
Name: Ol' Buzzard CommentYea, I saw the C-SPAN airing of the congressional hearing on the president's domestic spying without a court warrant, featuring witnesses including the ACLU, George Washington University president, The Truth Project and other civil liberties experts or practitioners, all who seemed to be saying that Congress must consider or ponder the possibility of impeaching Bush. If we do NOT hold our leaders, including Congress, accountable for their actions, then we are NOT only a ROGUE country, but we are also a ROGUE people. Folks, we have a serious problem on our hand and I think it's time we get on our horns and scream out for justice. Name: Home Boy CommentI saw the resettlement agreement between the states' attorney generals and Ameriquest regarding the $325 million that Ameriquest (mortgage lender) has agreed to pay to its borrowers and the states for its unscrupulous (perhaps predatory) lending practices. I then saw how President Bush has nominated the CEO of Ameriquest for the position of Ambassador to the Netherlands. Lets just hope he isn't trying to get the folks there to refinance their livelihoods, screwing everything up like they did for me.
Name: Truth Seeker CommentThe other day a National Security Adviser (Hadley) said on C-SPAN that the American military policy of preemption or preemptive strikes (read Nazi aggression) should be used only in cases of imminent threat. Then he mentioned that prudence and smartness are required to carry out this policy but that in the case of Iraq, there seemed to be a lack of intelligence. Well, there you go, all we need is someone with some smarts and integrity in the White House to be able to discern the truth and fantasy... Who are these guys anyway? I personally think they are insurgents whose goal is to destroy our way of life and our supreme law of our land, the Constitution of the United States of America. I mean, Bush thinks it's okay to spy on Americans and he lies about the use of some hocus pocus presidential authority to pry into our private lives and some weird war powers to imprison and torture anyone he deems a threat to his own god damned way of life, which is of the filthy ugly rich elitist bastards who put him in power in first place, never mind faulty, non-tamper-proof electronic voting machines that his Administration insists that the courts impose throughout the land.
